If I am not for myself, who am I?
And if you will be for me
Then I am not I, and you are not you
We're both drifting over the abyss
We haven’t found ourselves, we haven’t carved our place
And when the wind comes, it scatters us apart

How can I find you, how can I begin to speak
The anger is but bottled-up pain in my heart
How can I find myself without using my voice
How to truly be myself
So that you remain true for me

And then one day, all at once, a tiny taste of redemption arrives
Redemption, but still so incomplete
We’re still wrestling with the abyss
If only we had found ourselves, if only we had carved our place
Perhaps then, we would already be hand in hand

“And the earth was astonishingly empty, and there was darkness on the face of the abyss, and the spirit of God drifted over the face of the water.” (Bereishit / Genesis 1:2)
